Introducing Matthew, a tenor hailing from Carbonear, Newfoundland, with a passion for music that knows no bounds. Matthew's journey led him to Memorial University in St. John’s, where he immersed himself in the pursuit of an Opera Performance Degree under the esteemed guidance of Dr. Jane Leibel. Renowned for his dynamic tenor voice, Matthew is making waves as an emerging opera singer, celebrated for the richness and vibrancy of his performances.
Throughout his tenure at Memorial University spanning six years, Matthew has seized every opportunity to showcase his talent. From enchanting audiences with the Atlantic Boy Choir across diverse locales including Ontario, St. John’s, Clarenville, Grand Falls - Windsor, Corner Brook, France, England, and Italy, to collaborating with the Grammy-Award winning group, the Swingles, Matthew has left an indelible mark on the global music scene.
In addition to his remarkable vocal prowess, Matthew possesses exceptional piano skills cultivated through dedicated study and practice. His proficiency in piano enhances his ability to impart comprehensive musical education to students of all ages. As an educator, Matthew is committed to nurturing the musical growth of his students, empowering them to reach their full potential and fostering a deep-seated confidence in their abilities.
Matthew's journey has seen him grace the stages of renowned productions, including performances with the Calgary Opera in "Macbeth" by Giuseppe Verdi and "The Marriage of Figaro" by W. A. Mozart. Undeterred by the demands of performance, Matthew is driven by a dual passion for both performing and teaching. With a vision to inspire and guide aspiring musicians, Matthew endeavours to cultivate a new generation of confident and accomplished artists.

Meet Aaron (Piano, Guitar, Voice, Sax)
Aaron brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm, and expertise to his role as a private music instructor at Chestermere Music Academy, teaching piano, guitar, voice, and saxophone to students of all ages and skill levels.
With an impressive academic foundation in music, Aaron has achieved the following certifications through the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM):
Grade 10 Practical
History Levels 3, 4, and 5
Keyboard Harmony Levels 3, 4, and 5
Rudiments 1 and 2

Aaron’s love for music is deeply rooted in his upbringing within a musical family. Over the years, he has performed in diverse settings, including theatre productions, as a studio musician, accompanying choirs, and playing in rock bands and jazz ensembles. However, his greatest passion lies in teaching and inspiring students.
Aaron’s teaching philosophy focuses on nurturing students’ technical skills, expressive abilities, and confidence. He enjoys creating personalized lessons that guide students in analyzing their favorite songs, understanding the underlying structures, and crafting their own unique musical interpretations. His methods often draw on his favorite artists, such as Bach, Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum, Joe Pass, and Don Ross, infusing his lessons with creativity and inspiration.
Aaron’s dedication to teaching goes beyond helping students learn to play; he also enjoys mentoring future teachers, guiding them in designing tailored lesson plans that meet individual student needs. His goal is to ensure every student can articulate their technique, express themselves musically, and most importantly, enjoy the journey of learning.
When he’s not teaching, Aaron continues to explore different guitar methodologies and create innovative lesson content, ensuring his students benefit from the latest in musical pedagogy.
Meet Kyler (Guitar, Sax, Drums, Piano)
Kyler is a talented and versatile musician who teaches guitar, saxophone, drums, and piano at Chestermere Music Academy. With a lifelong passion for making music and a dedication to inspiring students, Kyler brings energy, creativity, and an individualized approach to his teaching.
Kyler’s musical journey began at an early age and has been shaped by years of study and performance. He holds a Level 8 certification from the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) in classical guitar and honed his skills with the Academy for Gifted Youth at Mount Royal University Conservatory, performing with various ensembles over several years. His exceptional ear for music, including perfect pitch, allows him to help students learn and play songs quickly and intuitively.
Kyler’s teaching philosophy emphasizes making lessons fun, engaging, and tailored to each student’s musical preferences. Whether it’s exploring a favorite song or mastering foundational skills, Kyler ensures that students stay motivated and enjoy the learning process. He is skilled at working with students of all ages and is known for his friendly and approachable demeanour.
Beyond his musical expertise, Kyler is also a current student in the Software Development program at SAIT in Calgary, bringing a modern and innovative perspective to his teaching. His diverse interests, including skiing, art, and gaming, make him relatable and easy to connect with.

Meet Teacher Stephanie (Piano & Voice)
Stephanie is a passionate piano and voice teacher at Chestermere Music Academy, dedicated to nurturing both vocal and instrumental talents.
With many years of teaching experience and a background in vocal performance, she offers a well-rounded approach to music education, helping students refine their technical skills and build confidence in their musical abilities.
Stephanie’s qualifications include RCM Piano Level 7 and Level 8 Theory (Advanced Rudiments) certifications, as well as a year of formal vocal training. She has showcased her skills as a Featured Performer at Collective’s Safe Spaces Event.
Her vocal lessons focus on essential techniques such as breath control, tone production, and expressive interpretation, guiding students to feel comfortable and confident in their singing.
Stephanie’s deep passion for sharing music in community settings drives her to help students discover their unique voices and express themselves through music.
Her thoughtful and warm teaching style creates a positive, encouraging learning environment where students are inspired to grow and develop a lifelong love of music.
Meet Teacher Brett (Guitar, Ukulele, Piano)
Brett is a versatile music instructor teaching guitar, ukulele, and piano to students of all ages and skill levels. With over six years of teaching experience, Brett has guided students through a variety of genres, tailoring lessons to inspire and engage learners of all backgrounds.
A Canadian-based classical guitarist, Brett has been performing professionally for over eight years. He holds an undergraduate degree in Performance and Composition from the University of Lethbridge, where he studied under renowned mentors Iliana Matos and Arlan Schultz.
Brett specializes in Spanish and Baroque music, bringing depth and authenticity to his teaching and performances. His expertise also extends to modern and popular music styles, ensuring a well-rounded and dynamic learning experience for his students.
With his passion for music and dedication to fostering growth, Brett is committed to helping students achieve their musical goals while developing a lifelong appreciation for the art of music.

Carol Cowie - Owner & Founder
Chestermere Music Academy is the brainchild of Carol Cowie, a dedicated music educator with an unwavering commitment to nurturing both students and teachers as we embark on our journey towards creating an exceptional music studio experience. Hailing from Northern Ireland, Carol's passion for music ignited at the tender age of 4, under the guidance of esteemed mentors Ruth White and Elizabeth McCausland. At 18, she ventured to Dublin, where her musical odyssey truly began at the College of Music, Dublin.
In Dublin, Carol immersed herself in the world of piano performance and pedagogy, emerging as a top graduate of her class and the proud recipient of the Frank O'Reilly Cup for Perpetual Excellence. Holding the prestigious distinction of being a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music, London, as well as possessing a Graduate Diploma in Music Teaching from the College of Music, Dublin, Carol stands as a beacon of musical proficiency and instructional prowess.
But her musical talents don't stop at the piano. With nearly three decades of teaching experience under her belt, Carol is equally accomplished as a clarinettist and piano accompanist. Her multifaceted musical expertise enriches the learning experiences of all who cross her path.
Carol's infectious enthusiasm for music and teaching is palpable, and she is thrilled to extend her love for both to the vibrant Chestermere community. Her integral role in ensuring that every student and educator at Chestermere Music Academy feels valued and supported makes her an indispensable part of our journey toward building the next level music studio.
